Environmental Sustainability

Emilgroup has been a member of the American Green Building Council (USGBC) since 2008 and also a member of the Italian division GBCITALIA since 2010, developing its products in accordance with the environmental sustainability principles espoused by the building green rating systems.

In 2013 Emilgroup became the first group in the Italian ceramics sector to carry out a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study deemed to be compliant with the reference ISO 14040-ISO 14044 standards by an accredited body. Following this study, it was possible to issue an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) compliant with the EN 15804 standard for all products created on the group premises, thus contributing, with a maximum score, to the attainment of the credits required for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, the V_4 version of which is currently in force) certified projects. This certification demonstrates buildings’ environmental, social and economic sustainability from the design phase through to usage.
