Fairlawns Hotel & Spa: interview with the designer

Interview

26 gennaio 2026

The Fairlawns Hotel & Spa, a luxury hotel in England, is a location dedicated to relaxation and wellbeing. Its wellness areas were recently renovated by the Sauna360 firm using the Unique Travertine by Provenza collection.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Peter Mitchell, Spa & Wellness Designer, to find out about the philosophy that guided the interiors’ transformation.

What is the philosophy that inspires your interior design projects?

I draw on my hand-on experience of installation works to come up with designs that are both practical and attractive, focusing in particular on comfort, convenience and durability. I aim to create solutions that simplify use and maintenance while still providing aesthetically exciting interiors.

What was the most exciting thing about this project?

The Fairlawns Hotel & Spa needed to refurbish its wellness facilities, and when restyling the thermal suite our aim was to create a place that would immediately give guests an impression of space, warmth and relaxation. The beauty of the large ceramic tiles that cover the walls is highlighted by the floor and ceiling lighting. One of the project’s distinctive features is the heating system integrated in the structure, which includes the seats, back rests and floor.

What did you most appreciate about the Emilgroup materials?

Working with Emilgroup was an extremely positive experience. The products’ excellent quality and the wide range available gave our customers access to a vast array of design solutions and options. The large-size tiles in particular proved to be a key feature, enabling us to achieve an elegant, seamless, highly professional result. Throughout the entire design process we were also impressed by the outstanding level of service and the constant attention focused on both the product and our project.
